Facebook

Facebook and I have been friends for a few years.  It drew me in while we were in Papua New Guinea as a way to keep up with family and friends.  In the past I have been hacked with some awful stuff and have even thought about getting off of fb.  Then there are the times I have posted something by accident and reap misunderstanding from those I care deeply about .   I post a lot of Christian quotes that some tell me have encouraged their hearts  which makes all the hackers and misunderstanding worth it.

Again this may not be your cup of tea in singing but it blesses my heart.  I like singing and messages to get right to the point being, God hates sin, He loves sinner, He sent His son to die for the sinners.  All have sinned and come short of the glory of God. Romans 3:21-23.

Charles Spurgeon said:  Jesus died for sinners , cannot we live for sinners?  Where is our tenderness?  Where is our love for Christ if we do not seek His honor in the salvation of sinners? Oh that the Lord would saturate us through and through with an undying zeal for souls.

These guys have the message and aren't afraid to sing it and thousands of believers have shared this small clip to encouraged.    It's the simple gospel message in simple singing, no frills, no instrument's to cover the kids and even the mistakes in the singing.  Funny I had to listen to it about 10 times before I heard the one spot they were flat.  What my heart heard was someone singing about my Lord who cares for every lost soul out here just as He did mine.  It challenged me...hope it does you to tell someone this week about Jesus before it's too late.

I would love to know, when did you get saved, born again , become a believer, a follower of Christ?

  1. Although not my cup of tea those guys were pretty good, especially if that was impromptu. I accepted Jesus when I was 8 but was in college when I decided to follow Him. I'm still surrendering daily. Thanks Betty.

  2. Love the singing. I am an eclectic lover of music. I was saved at 3. Still fine tuning my faith.

  3. Someone was doing their job as a believer or those getting saved at a young age would not have heard. Reminds me of the importance of telling kids the gospel while their minds are not full of "other ideas" about salvation. How quickly the accept the sweet gospel as truth. Who would have known except God you would be a preacher someday. Thanks Bill for your testimony.

  4. Karmen I love how you explain your growing in the faith planted in your heart at three. It is God's job to fine tune our faith, to work daily on our hearts to make us more like him. Thank you sister for your testimony.

  5. Hi Betty,
I loved that video! Those guys are good!
I too have facebook but only use it for witnessing and for prayer.

I was saved at 4 and then at 13 I took hold of my salvation and grew in the Lord. Then again at 30, I made a deeper commitment to Father and I find I am just spinning upwards into Him and loving every single moment of it.

    Blessings, thanks for sharing.

  6. child of God...love reading the testimonies of people getting saved at a young age...so was it your parents who led you to the Lord? When we work in a church in Kentucky the first person I led to the Lord was a four year old in my Sunday School class. One is never too young or too old for God to penetrate their hearts with His truth, it's ageless. Blessings my sister.

  7. Hi Betty! I was brought up in a faithful home, but really 'chose' to follow when I was in college. Away from my parents' influence, I could skip the whole religion thing, or accept it into my life.

Thanks be to him who gave me the grace to accept his love and presence. Best decision I ever made :)

  8. I love that kind of soulful singing. I loved your words, too. They reveal your tender heart. I can relate to being a little disillusioned with FB. I like to remember that our Lord must have felt the same way. He came to bless and was attacked for doing so.

I cannot remember a time when I did not believe, but I remember times when my faith grew by leaps and bounds. One of those was at a Becky Tirabassi seminar where she challenged us to meet with the King daily for prayer and Bible reading. I kept that appointment going forward and was forever changed.

  9. Wow, I love that singing. Beautiful! I became a Christian when I was 12 at a David Wilkerson crusade - a very memorable experience!

  10. Ceil, thank God for your faithful home life, it's lays a foundation on how God wants families to live. Now you are keeping that faithfulness alive for your children and grand children. Thank you for the testimony. My heart is full from reading yours and others.

  11. Melanie, it's interesting to me how young some of you were when you believed. Our daughter was four and our son a month old when I got saved and my prodigal husband came back to the Father. We were married 12 years before we had children, rough years that our children never seen that part of our lives, thank God. We happen to go to a very aggressive soul winning church that gave the gospel out every service so our children "heard" from an early age. What a privilege you have to teach your own children ...weaving God into everything. Bless you.

  12. Barb, you made it...that means I did something right. Thanks for coming by and giving testimony to God saving grace in your life. And through David Wilkerson...there will be many souls in heaven because of that man. Blessings my sister.

  13. Hi Betty,
It wasn`t my parents, they are Catholic. It was my sister who is 13 years older than me, she introduced me to Jesus and when she told me about Him I remember having a very peaceful feeling inside and I knew He made me complete. She asked me if I believed in Him and that He died for me and I remember saying, "Oh yes! I love Jesus! And I want to be with Him!" My sister was thrilled and she would tell me the stories of Him and remember listening and beautiful pictures would form in my mind and I would be happy.
Meeting Jesus at a very young age really impacted me, so I believe teaching children young is very important.

    Blessings,

  14. Thanks Child of God for sharing the sweet story of your sister telling you about Jesus. My parents were not believers so I was 35 when I got trusted in Christ. Because I knew exactly what did not bring peace since I had tried a lot I grew fast in the Lord. Blessings my sister.

  15. I really enjoyed that. I reminded me of the songs I sang at church in my youth. Thank you!

  16. TC, thanks for stopping by...hope all is well with you. You were a singer when you were young...do you still sing in a choir maybe. I just joined the worship group at the church we attend, just need to keep my vocal chords in shape. I am use to singing solo's and southern gospel so this will be learning curve for me. But I thought, why not, I am 67 and probably only a few years left where I can even carry a tune. Glad the song blessed you.

  17. I was blessed with great Christian parents and came to put my faith in Jesus at around the age of 6 because of my parents powerful testimony!

  18. Caleb, I am sure your parents are very proud of you. Almost everyone who has commented got saved at a young age which is so encouraging. The power of faithful parents has more affect then a preacher.

    Thank you for stopping by.

  19. It's so easy to give offence or take offence. I sometimes wish we could all just stand back and see how stupid it is...but then I fall into it sometimes as well.

  20. Crystal, thanks for stopping by my site. We are in the middle of a move so when it's over I want to check out the book you review. I am impressed with anyone who write books, the time it takes to finger the keyboard putting thoughts to creative order. Bless you.

  21. Wow! That was awesome!

I was saved as a kid, but ran to the prodigal side of life and justified it by lashing out at legalism. Running from God is like Jonah, it's impossible. I was broken, my pride finally gone where I found myself at the bottom, the place where pride always dumps us. That was around twenty years ago now. I still fight that ugly trait of pride, but I win more now being in our Father's corner.

  22. Floyd, how longsuffering of our Lord to wait till you were at the bottom. He knows exactly how far down we must go before we will ever glance up. My husband was a prodigal, also our son who has returned to the Father. Broken is the very best state to be in for it give God total control. Thanks brother for the testimony...it rings true of all prodigal. There are many out there still in the pig pen, I pray God puts them in your path to witness to. He certainly has used my husband testimony with many of prodigals.

  23. We are to live among the world as mirrors of His light, not battery-powered flashlights aimed at ourselves.

    Good stuff, as always, Betty!

  25. I don't have an exact day/date/time but I think I became a christian around the age of 14 or 15. I'd always grown up in church but I don't think I really began taking the whole truth of Jesus being my saviour and the author of my life seriously until around that age. Although I did believe God was real before then, probably by the age of 11. In a funny way I guess my conversion was more of a gradual dimmer switch thing rather than a light switch thing.

  26. Micah, time and date is not important only that you know you are saved now. I have been encouraged to read those I blog with testimonies. We worked with teens years ago and I would say most of them would say the same as you. Our hearts cannot stand all the truth God wants to impart to us when we are young. He knows we must walk a little piece with Him like the disciples before we come to a deeper understanding of all that He is. And even at my age, I discovers deeper facets of His mercy and grace almost every day. His love comes to us as we experience life and all the good and bad there is in it. Which is why I hope cannot be for complete maturity in Him on this earth. Oh but someday my brother we will leave this dress of flesh and understand as He does all mysteries. Thank you for commenting.

  27. I like all sorts of music, but these fellows are really good. I could listen to them for hours.

I came to Christ February 23, 1974 in my home, reading a Christian book a friend had given me. My husband watched his "new wife" for a couple of weeks, and decided he wanted what I had too and accepted Christ.

  28. At around age 9 I accepted Jesus after hearing the Easter story told by my mother. It was later that night as I mused on my bed - - I could not remember if I had invited Jesus into me life, so then I did right there. It has been a walk ever since even the stumbling walk, but walk neverthe less. Thank you for sharing with us here at "Tell Me a Story."

  30. Hazel, I like the way you explained your walk with the Lord after salvation, a stumbling one at times. So it is with every believer...Chuck Swindoll calls it a three step forward, two steps back walk. Blessings my sister.

  31. I love pure voices like this. I grew up in a faith tradition that was all acapella music, so this brings me back to my roots.

I have that same kind of love/hate relationship with FB too. But like you, I think overall we can use it far more for good than ill. Thanks for letting me know you were sharing my compassion post on your FB wall. You're a blessing, Betty.

  32. Lisa, I just grew up country and so when I got saved it was this style of music that stirred my soul. Singing acapella is my most favorite...love hearing all the harmony around me since I always do the lead.

I love posting other blog on my fb...giving more for those who stop by to read and be encouraged as I was.

  33. Actually, I have asked Jesus to be my Lord and Savior over 9 times, I think... I was the kid the other kids looked up to (no idea why), so I thought I was showing a good example for my friends. Not that I didn't mean it when I asked Jesus to come into my heart.. It's just that afterwards, I kept thinking "Well, I've done so much not according to His will... maybe He left? I better remind Him that He's always welcome." Hehehe.

But, on May 9, 2000 I made my conscious decision to really follow Him.

  34. Zee good to hear from you. Thanks for the honest testimony. From years of working with youth I can tell you this is a common event. It seems some of our teens would get saved every youth camp and retreat. Even though we would show them nothing can separate them from the love of God after they are saved it would still happen. Their hearts were easily convicted. Usually somewhere in their 20 or 30's they firm up their salvation because they are old enough to understand the truth that nothing can separate us from the love of God once we are His. Not even our failure, our doubts and even a sin that so easily besets us. Hearing truth with a little maturity can give one a firm foundation to stand on. The important thing is that you know today if you were to die you would go to be with the Lord, not because you are perfect but because He was perfect for you. Stay safe my courageous wise hearted blog friend, stay safe.
