Trisha Yearwood - I’ll Carry You Home (Official Music Video)

Finding comfort while it seems like the whole world has went crazy can be found in scripture, a walk in nature, a good uplifting book, especially the Bible and also in music.

The below song has been my go to for comfort. I probably listen to it everyday. It's not a Christian song but there is an eternal aspect to the words. Knowing for sure when I die I will be going to my eternal home brings me comfort. The news depresses all of us, the middle east issues, Covid, mask, riots, random killings, evilness is everywhere and only seems to be getting worst. Even watching the weather reports now is depressing. All of this sends me to music a lot for comfort.

God is still in control of what seems like an uncontrollable world. There will come a day for me and everyone when we leave this messy world. Knowing where I am going and WHO has the power to take me to my eternal home gives me courage to face today and my tomorrows. What do you fall back on when you are discouraged and know you cannot fix whatever you are going through?

Can you see the end to our messy world? What does your eternal future hold? Does your peace come from this world or your future in heaven someday? Where do you get your courage from to deal with all that is around you that you cannot fix? Where do you get your comfort from? Do you have a song in your heart that comes to mind when you are discouraged that brings peace?

  1. My go to songs are "Good, Good Father" and "Is He Worthy?" by Chris Tomlin. I have just learned about a song called "Something Else is Going On Here" by Sweet Comfort Band (2015). There are several others, too numerous to mention. Sorry. None of them are country. :)

    1. I like the Sweet Comfort Band too. Through the years I have had hundreds of, "go to" songs for comfort. And some of them are not country believe it or not. This one is just my latest and, He Knows My Name is the other one. Hope all is well at your place.

  2. I love knowing that my Heavenly Father will one day carry me home...to my eternal home, where there is no more evil and sorrow and grief. No more pain or suffering. But until then, we must live this life as best we can, with joy and peace, knowing that God is always with us, and He will carry us even here wherever we may go...He's always with us, even until the end of our days...and then for eternity. What peace this gives my heart in this turbulent world. There are so many different songs of faith that come to me ...Blessed Assurance, Jesus is Mine...It is Well With My Soul...Jesus Loves Me. I have a long list of them, and the Lord brings them to my mind at just the right moments. So thankful for that heritage. This was lovely, and I enjoyed the song so much. Made me a bit "homesick"...but in a sweet way.

    1. Those old hymns are priceless and I love to hear younger children sing them. I felt the same way Pamela when I first heard this song, homesick for my eternal home where my Mom is and others that I love. Blessings.

  3. What a beautiful and uplifting song, Betty! It may not be specifically Christian, as you stated, but the lyrics certainly mirror our hope in Jesus to carry us home through all the pain and suffering in this world. They tune is very much like an old-timey hymn, at least to my ears.
There isn't a specific song that is getting me through these dark times, but I'm glad you've found a favorite.
    Blessings!

  4. There are spells of time that I don't listen to music and when I do I usually go to ones I have known for years. Every once in a while I will listen to something that is new to me. My two grown children send me songs often cause they know I would love it especially if there is good harmony. Listening to music makes me so grateful for my hearing and the freedom we have to listen to anything we want. One of the things the under ground church in China do is sing a lot, but not loudly so they do not get detected. And they cry as they sing, it's like singing prayers. Hope all is well with you.

  5. Tom and I just discussed this very thing in this morning's Bible Study, prayer time. We are blessed to know the counselor, the Holy Spirit, and His advice and wisdom is the absolute best in these times!

    1. In this day and age with all the horrible stuff going on I am finding I must on purpose hang on tighter to Him in any way I can.

  6. Just as the Old Testament book of Esther never actually says the name of God, the chapters are full of His care for His people. This song by Trisha Yearwood is like that. Jesus will carry us Home, just as He has done for our loved ones who have gone before us.

Like you, I take my greatest refuge in scripture and music. My current favorite is this one from the First Baptist Church of Dallas:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oWlLbvLa_Cs
