Eternal Sight

Going through some notebooks where I write quotes or thoughts down and this one screamed, post me, post me. I know the,"WHY" this resonates in my life so much because I have had to forgive much but not as much as Jesus had to forgive me. To be owned in my mind by past hurts, to make them present hurts is to be controlled by those hurts is a prescription for anger and depression. It's not worth my health, my mind, my body, family and friends and my whole life to let it fester in me. I have always counsel others and myself that if you wake up with a thought, go to bed with the same thought and it's killing the in-between, you need to get some help to get over it.  I think the below quote is the best prescription for this.  Wise Hearted.

There comes a time when you need to make what Jesus did for you, bigger than what someone did to you. E.J. Lanham

What say you?

    1. Diane I don't know everyone life story that visit my blog but I do know just a little of yours and you have been a testimony to me though the hurt you have endured in the recent years. We carry some of the same scars my sister and thanking God daily they are scars and not wounds. I think we bought wear them proudly because God has healed us of so much and driven us deep into His love. I think of the song, Without Him, without Him I would be nothing , without out Him I'd surely fail, and without Him life would be nothing. But with Jesus, thank God I'm saved. His love is everything when we don't love ourselves. His love is everything when we are not loved by others, He is everything.

    1. Thanks Ryan for the stop by. We are in the middle of packing up for a move and even though I have lots of thoughts God has been given me, I can't seem to bring them all together. But this came with such ease it shook me. Doesn't happen often but lovely when it does.

  4. I say Awesome!!!

Forgiveness is a gift to the forgiver. Can you imagine our world without forgiveness? What a disaster.

Hurting people hurt people, but our Father is bigger than any hurt this world can put upon us.

    Excellent quote and thoughts!!!

  5. No I cannot even fathom a world without forgiveness. It's the one thing I know for surse has to come from a higher power since we are all cut of the same cookie mold, rotten to the end. It take courage to forgive, none to hate. To look someone in the face who has wronged me and tell them, don't worry, I don't hold it against you, I put it at the foot of the cross and it's covered with His blood. Praise God.

  7. Most definitely agree that wisdom Betty. I have also found that if I fail to forgive and hold a grudge I am a slave to that person. God has set me free from being anyone's slave.

    1. One of the things we noticed when we ran a bus route in Kentucky was you must keep the minds of children busy or they will keep you busy. We did it with songs. amazing how those kids would get into singing Jesus loves me in the round which made for a noisy bus but at least they were all singing the same song.

  9. What comes to mind is that with God we can live in the moment. What has happened before, forgive, make peace. What will happen tomorrow we have no control over. It might not even be ours to live through. We only have the present. Let's live it with our God, entering into eternity when we pray. And ours will be the happiness that our wonderful God wants for each one of us.
God loves each one of us so much...we'll never get to the bottom of His love.

  13. "I have had to forgive much but not as much as Jesus had to forgive me" - that quote struck me in your post. I was pondering today on the scene, where Jesus is on the cross and praying for those who have crucified him... Incredible compassion and ultimate forgiveness.

Good post, Betty. Thanks for sharing it.

  15. Good Post!! I never understood why we, as Christians, allow worry, hurt, etc., to constrain us, when the God gave so much, to set us free. Thanks for coming over to Perceptions From Beyond Time And Space. I hope to see again. Shabbat Shalom.

  16. "allow" is the correct word. It's no body buy our fault when we fall into a pit of worry, even though it's easy to see how some pits could drive us to worry. And the battle is in the mind which is why the Lord tells us to think on these things of good report. Then some will say, oh, you are not being real. I am such a realist but it does not cause me much worry because I know the end of the story. But I do get down at times when I let my mind run on and on at all the bad news out there and even in my own family. I plan He is not coming for 100 or so years and live like He is coming any minute. It keeps me in the present which is exactly where I think He wants us so we will be effective for Him. I believe the present holds great struggles at times but will someday pass away, I have the hope of heaven in my soul. I will admit I have had a couple mild breakdowns during this past couple months. We are moving, had to buy another vehicle, my did a couple days in hospital getting angiogram, his defibulator adjusted, all under the shut down. it has been stressful, at times almost over whelming but have felt the hand of God on us as we navigate a new journey for us. I caulk the "why" upto the flesh, we are still to human, it's the battle of the mind.

  17. Yes, it is a power quote for sure, Betty. Our fleshly beings seem to get used to the sacrifice He made and take it too lightly and not ponder the cross and it's deep meaning enough. I like the way you opened your post remembering the depth of love and forgiveness of God for us. Important, I think, to let that be the preeminent thought than the hurt we feel. I'm so happy Ace is doing well. I've been one in your army of warriors praying for his healing. I hope your move is going well and all is falling into place.

  18. Ace is doing well. Tomorrow we pack our stuff on a "box" from Uhaul and about 10-15 later it goes on the next truck heading up to northern Mn. WE bought another vechicle today, an SUV Toyota Highlander...used, big, very nice, lots of bells and whistle and it will pull a lightweight RV. So we will be set up to travel the northwest and Midwest and visit missionaries. We sure have a lot of them home due to this virus. I so appreciate you Mary and your blog, always encouraging. I feel bad that I never got what you ask me to write written. I still would love to meet you face to face someday. Blessings sister.
